YACT: Cracked Windshield

Parked my car on the street tonight and returned to find my front windshield cracked. (Looks like someone through a rock at it) This is totally FTL. I was wondering how much it would cost to fix it/replace it...

Does insurance usually cover things like this? I have full coverage...

Yes, it covers it. The same thing happened to my car, called insurance company, the windshield replacement company was there within the hour.

Of course, it depends on current time of day, whether your windshield is in stock, whether windshield company is open, etc.

Depends on the state iirc. Comp should cover it though.........
If insurance doesn't cover it would of course depend on the year/make model.

Not enough info.....................

My windshield cost $180 installed on site....................

Insurance may or may not cover it. I think there are just 3 states that have a mandatory zero deductable with comp coverage for windshield claims. If you are not in one of those states, then it depends on the coverage you purchased from your insurance company, what your deductable will be.

The cost of the windshield will depend on the year, make, model of the vehicle. The average cost of a windshield installation is around $250.00.

don't your agents ever go over your policies with you??? that is so sad to hear... you pay a crap load of money on insurance, the LEAST they could do for you is help you understand what is covered.

to answer: yes, it is covered under comprehensive coverage. no, if you make a claim, your policy will not go up

Let me re-phrase what I stated. Windshields will always be covered under a comp policy, but a deductable may apply.

Yep, some repair places even take advantage of that. All you do is go in, pay them your deductable, and they pop a new windshield on.

Good thing too. The windshield on my Envoy got a crack in it, and since it had the rain sensor option and built in antenna, it would have cost me like $800. I got away with $250 🙂

I've been lucky enough not to ever pay insurance (22 in school, making good money but parents are handling the insurance tab)
