I'd have to go with the S2000 - it's a gorgeous car with a gorgeous engine 🙂

that means I have to learn to drive standard 🙂

Is it just me or does the s2000 only come with standard tranny?

It should only come in manual - having fun in the s2000 comes directly from having to shift your own gears.

If you want to buy a convertable that requires no thinking or skill to drive, the mustang is the car for you - if you want a vehicle whose actions are as precise as a surgical knife, and will surely delight any skilled driver - the s2000 is the car for you.

Driving an S2k with an auto tranny would probably make it feel about as lively as your Civic.

Anyone know if there's any decent convertibles that go for under $20K ($15k - $20K ideal)? Doesn't have to be new, but looking at something at least a year 2000 and above (don't want to spend a bundle maintaining it)

Been looking at the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder...can't seem to think of what else is available other than that)...

Anyone have any suggestions?

stay away from mitsubishi!

agreed

oh bulsh!t. I've owned a turbo awd talon and never had any problems with it....

Also if you want an automatic, go get yourself a siebring or vw bug droptop. Theres no point in spending money on a roadster if you get the auto version

Check out the Saab 9-3. Might be kind of expensive to repair, but newer Saabs are actually quite reliable, and well within your price range.

That's probably true...Only reason why I was going to go auto is because of the fact that my standard driving experience totals to about 30 mins (got a brief lesson in my friend's Sidekick before he traded it in) 🙂

If you don't mind waiting, I belive the Pontiac Solstice will start in that price range. And all early indications are that it's a great car.

ive driven both the 2000 s2k as well as the 2004 s2k. the ride is a LOT better in the 04 one. the 00 didnt impress me as much i had hoped....its too much of a race car and not enuff of a cruising car...if that makes any sense. now the 04! that s2k is just perfect! methinks honda took notice of the complaints and made the ride a bit softer on that model
