Last week, my computer science instructor told me I don't have to take the final test today. My A+ is guaranteed...(general computer literacy, nothing difficult. The class isn't part of my major, just meeting a general ed requirement)

So, with that information, (grade already locked in) take the test or not?

My personal feeling is to take the test, like a personal challenge, to prove to myself that I know the information, as well as to show the instructor that I paid attention during class. (I suppose my grades on assignments and previous tests show that...I have more bonus points already assigned than this test is worth)

Whatcha think?

I leave in a couple minutes to go take the test...just curious what the rest of you would do.

I would sleep in...taken too many tests to have to prove myself. besides, you admitted it was "nothing difficult." so where's the challenge in that?

Ummm...I think you pretty sealed the fact that the class will not be a challenge to you. What make syou think the final will differ? No offense, but it kind of sounds like you are bragging too.....

If it were me, I wouldn't even consider taking the test. No purpose. You won't be any smarter by taking it, your grade will not be affected, you'll have spent time sitting in a room doing nothing productive (one of the few times taking a test isn't productive, huh?)... Where's the upside?

OK, I'm actually glad I went...NO, my grade probably wouldn't have been affected overall, but it turns out, the formula he had posted on his website was flawed...(he had the wrong number of possible points entered incorrectly), so, the test would certainly make a difference in my overall class score.

He did confirm I could have skipped the class and still pulled an A, but probably not an A+.

As for proving myself...taking tests can be a way to challenge yourself, even when you have nothing to gain.

Nothing wrong with proving to yourself that you did actually learn something IMO.
Shows whether you really know what you think you do...
