YACT: Coil going bad...

A friend of mine has a '84 Volvo 240 that I help him maintain on occasion. He is having this problem where the coil keeps going bad. Does anyone know of an electric problem that will generally cause this. Everyone I have talked to have not been able to give me a decent answer. Thanks.
 
I dunno... poor grounding/bad wiring? Maybe try a capacitive discharge coil?
Just stabs in the dark, I really am not sure.
