YACT - Civic for Accord

Hey everybody,

I bought an '06 Honda Civic back in February and haven't been too pleased with it. I have always loved Accords, and know that I like the model year '98 - '02, since I have previously owned one. I saw a '99 Accord with 98,000 miles on it in the paper today for $7500, which is about $1500 cheaper than I have seen any Accord in this year range go for in the last 6 months. My question is this: should I sell my Civic (I would probably end up taking about a $1000 loss if I did a private party sale, which isn't that big of a deal to me) and get the Accord? One of the main things I like about the Accord (other than the car itself) is that it is an automatic versus my civic which is a manual. Also, I am getting tired of putting all my money towards my car (I am a college student and am trying to pay off the $14000 loan for my Civic off as soon as possible). What should I do?

Cliffs: Should I sell my 2006 Civic for ~$17500 and buy a 1999 Accord for $7500?

Thanks for your opinions.

I just saw this: http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/car/228433262.html

Holy crap, that's cheap. I live in Utah, so no :(

There is a 2000 Accord in the paper right now with 60,000 miles for freaking $12,000 right now, and there have been other cars I've seen around in the same year range for much more that have been selling, so that's a way good deal.

Yeah, I would seriously consider it but I just told a seller I was gonna buy his 2002 WRX.

I wouldn't. Is the manual transmission the only reason you would be selling this Civic.

The Civic is going to get better gas mileage..unless you have some reason to sell it you haven't told us, I would keep it.

 Honda!

The manual transmission is probably the only major reason I don't like the car itself, other than the minor squeaks and rattles that are present in the car that I don't feel should be in a new car, but I digress. The real main reason is I am sick of putting all the money I earn towards my car loan to pay it off early. I payed $18,500 for the Civic after tax, title, etc., and got the loan for $14,500. After 8 months, I owe just under $11,000 on the loan (remember, I'm a poor college student... hehe) and I would much rather have a car that only cost me $7500 since I would only have to get a loan for a few thousand dollars after I sold my Civic. Sorry for the long explanation, but that's pretty much the whole story.

Yes, I would sell the Civic.

10k is a big difference and you're a poor college student.

You like Accord and it's an auto so it's a no brainer in my book.

It's a seller's market for used Civic so you're going to come out pretty.

Thanks for the advice, Naustica. That's pretty much what I was thinking, and what I wanted to hear :) hehe. And yeah, it is totally a seller's market for Civics right now. The blue book value for my car is more than I payed for it before tax, title, etc.
