This ugly car has an interesting description for the transmission. It reads electronically controlled "clutchless manual gearbox" that can be operated in automatic mode as well.

Anyone have more information about this transmission? I'm curious if this is a real manual based transmission like the type found on Ferraris or torque converter based type similar to "tiptronic" feature. Tiptronic is merely a feature that allows the driver to override the transmission electronic controller and shift the gears in an automatic transmission manually.

== triptronic.

Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

edit: wha? dry clutch on a powerglide? I dont see how that would work, unless you never used the clutch

No, it's not tiptronic. Google "SensoDrive" and you'll find that it's a setup like BMW's SMG.

And I believe what he means by "Ford Powerglide" is that there are kits that will allow a person to mate a Powerglide automatic to a Ford engine (such as when building a hot rod).

what sounds even more stupid is the fact that the powerglide is a GM box not a Ford box
