My girlfriends car battery crapped so it needs to be replaced.

Does anyone know how to pull the battery out of a new Beetle? Everything is so shoe-horned in the engine bay. I looked at it last night in the dark, but couldnt see anything. So I will get back to it after work. But I was hoping someone on here has some experience with it.

More than likely it'll be under a protective plastic cover, given modern engines.
Remove that, remove any brackets holding it in place, and remove the terminals. IIRC, you disconnect the +ve terminal first.

I couldnt find the brackets last night. So I guess my question is, what is actually holding the battery down? Does it require the removal of any surround parts?

I really hate the new beetle. THe engine bay has the worst layout evAr, and it's unrealiable in EVERY way.

FYI:
When my wife's VW Pissant battery died a few years ago the stealership wanted over $200 to replace it. I guess the ECU needed to reset or needed continuous power at the same time (not sure which) but Sears was aware of this issue and still replaced the battery for cost (no labor fee).

Just get in there and look at it. You will probably have to remove a cover of some sort and probably unbolt a bracket or two but I doubt its that hard to get the battery out.

If you can't figure out how to remove a battery from a car, then you should not be touching that car.

Take it to a professional..

then,

Turn in your Man-Card..

Have you ever looked under the hood of a beetle @ 11pm? You cant see crap in the daylight. The way things are crammed in there it is hard to figure out what goes here.

On a car with a normal engine bay configuration i have...
replaced rocker arms
swapped a cam shaft
changed heads

as well as all that other trivial maintence crap

So I wont be turning in my mancard any time soon, but thanks for the helpful post.
