My car engine smells like rotten eggs, I can really smell it when I'm stopped and I roll the window down. I'm not a car guy in any sense, anyone know wtf it could be? I think I'm gonna take it to the dealer. Its only 3 months old too - 2004 Mazda6

you're running premium. You don't have a sports car so don't run premium.

just a thought, but maybe you're using crappy gas (beucase of the sulfur content in gas). Try filling up from a differnet gas station.

That's what I was thinking, but the car is just 3 months old...

Take it to the dealership under warranty, eh?

It may be the cat, but there could be something else wrong that's affecting the combustion process. If it's under warranty, just take it to the dealer and let them figure it out.

could this be related to the fact that i'm averaging 16 mpg highway driving (it is pathetic, i know - supposed to be about 23 or so)

Off topic but this kind of "logic" always kills me. If you drive the same amount anyway then why wouldn't you fill up everytime you need gas. Do you like spending more time at the gas station? My wife used to do this, she would stop and put $5 or $10 in and then drive for a few days. When I was driving her car and we would stop she would actually tell me to just put a few dollars worth in the tank. I would always fill it up. Why on earth would you do that?

Because my drive to work is only about 10 minutes, so I still only have to fill up every week or week and a half. Also, it only takes about 3 minutes to stop and fill it up halfway. Plus I'm holding out hope that the prices will go down, it went up 30 cents over 2 months...

I am surprised that non of your so called car people know about this "problem." this is very common in newer cars due to the cleaner burning enigne, and some of the gasoline has sulfur in it. google it, tons of info out there. Change your gasoline brand and ease up on the acclerator.

Well, it certainly isn't going to drop 30 cents in a week. You are spending twice as much time at the gas station, breathing toxic gas fumes, than you need to.
