Car A:

1995 INFINITI Q45, V8, auto, moonroof, black w/tan leather, alloys, keyless, 130k miles, looks, runs and drives great! $5,983

Car B:

1995 Nissan Maxima SE, fully loaded, power everything, Ruby w/Beige Leather, 83000 miles, original owner. $6000

All factors being equal (cars fully maintenanced, no detectable problems in drivetrain, body / interior in similar conditions) which car would YOU get, and why?

I choose Car A. No poll, I wanna hear ya tell me and tell me why please =)

Yes, however it is slower, I think Maxima is roughly 0-60 in low 7s, and the Q45 would be low 8s.

The Q45 will be more luxurious, powerful, and exclusive. However, it's also likely that the insurance and running costs (gas, other maintenance) will be quite a bit higher. The Maxima would also be more fun to drive.

Still, even with the extra mileage I would probably go for the Q45. I like the look of 'em and the build quality is fantastic.

Goto www.google.com and type in 95 maxima 0-60. Many website rate the Maxima 0-60 in 6.7 seconds in 5 speed and 6.9ish with the auto. I said low 7s to be on the safe side.

The Q45 is nice, but will cost a arm and a leg to get parts and fix. If you don't mind high maintaince cost then go Q45. If you need something more practical then go witht he Max.

... yes, let's compare 1/4 mile numbers, because that's the most important factor in the car ... :p

I'm assuming you took both for a test drive?

I'd bet that 1/4 mile times aren't much different. Q45 is larger and heavier so the added torque and hp of the V8 would be negated largely by that.

No, no, I was just trying to concretize the person's statement about the Q45 being more "powerful" with some data. I think the Q45 looks nicer and is a more refined car, but the Max has less miles and possibly cheaper repairs / insurance.

Anyone have any idea what the repair cost differences would be on something like this? Because I did an analysis on one of my older YACTS of a Maxima versus an Infiniti J30 (RWD) and the repair costs were slightly higher on the J30 but not enough to kill someone. A Maxima radiator might be $160 while the J30 is $185. Big whoop, how many times are you going to have to replace it?

Hmm.. so the Maxima is faster eh? I would probably get that then. RWD vs FWD isn't a big deal when the Q45 probably handles like Jell-O anyway.

Neither, because I still think you should buy a manual. However, if I had to buy an automatic I'd get the maxima. I'd rather DRIVE the infiniti, but if I had to buy one it would be the maxima, because it will definitely cost you less in maintenance.
