YACT: Can a bad axle mess up my transmission?

I have to get my axle replaced but finding the right one is tough.
My car takes one of two and I'm not taking it to the dealer either where they want $400 just to replace it. I will take it to my cousin but we need to find out the spline count before I can order one online.

Anyways, lately I started to notice my transmission shifting weird. Can the axle do damage to my transmission? Many ppl say yes while others say no.

since you went out of your way to be completly unspecific i'm going to assume you drive a 94 ford ranger and your problem is with your front axle.

no, just don't use the 4WD and you'll be fine.

I dunno, but try http://www.cvaxles.com for a good, cheap axle

Also adv auto/autozone have reasonable prices and usually lifetime warranties
