yact: buying an used car, is this a good deal?

ok, my mom is looking at buying a 2000 hyundai accent with 16000 miles on it. its a manual, and the owners are really old, so i'm guessing it's in good mechanical condition and that it wasn't raced around or anything.

the current owners are asking $6000 for it. teh body is in excellent condition, couple of scratches, but that's about it. the owner said he hasn't had the oil changed recently, but that was about it. otherwise, he treated it well.

1. is this a good deal?
2. my mom learnt to drive on a manual several years ago... will this come back to her over time? i've been driving automatics only, if i use it, will it be an easy transition phase?
3. anyone know any specs on this car (i'm guessing its a V4 engine...) or had any experience with this car?

all help is appreciated, thanks!

kevin, do you have any bad experiences with used hyundais?

Not personally, but a good friend of mine bought one. It just seems right after he bougt it, everything bad happened. I believe he had to recently change his transmission. The car isn't that old (98) and it didn't have that many miles on it. I'll ask him for more info when I see him again...

That sounds a bit high for a 2000 Hyundai Accent unless the car is really clean and'or a special color or something.
Take a look at Edmunds.com.
Driving a manual should come back fairly easily, but everyone is different.
