I'm 21 years old and I have some money to buy myself a new car.
I would like to spend around $30k-60k. If I spend 30k I will most likey add 20k in Mods to the car and if I spend close to 60k on the car I will just leave it stock.

Here are my choices (In the order I like):
1st (tie) 2004 Infiniti Q45
1st (tie) 2004 Lexus Ls430
2nd 2004 Acura TL
3rd 2004 Nissan Maxima - All Options
4th Used Audi A8 2002?

need some suggestions..

If I was in your shoes, I would choose the Audi or the Lexus, I really don't care for Infinitis IMO.

*some* money?!?!

$30-60k??

Dude...invest it and buy some $10k car that will have only high insurance rates instead of stratospheric until you turn 25 and get married.

Why drop $60k at your age on a depreciating asset and drop hundreds/month on insurance??

Buy a $20k car and invest the rest in a house. You'll thank me when you turn 30.

As much as I love maximas if I had $50-60k to spend on a car buying a maxima and throwing $20k into it is the last thing in the world I'd want to do.

Don't buy a car and drop 20k in mods. The car will still be a $30k car and resale/style will never be represented properly in that 20k in mods. Don't get a lexus. Get the Q45 or a used Audi. I suppose you already know that standard service on that car will be more pricey than on a civic or something ;)

I would pick the TL just because not a lot of people have it yet. :) ...and pocket the change.

21 years old with $60k to spend? I wish i had your dilemma. If I really had to spend it all... id get an M3. :)

You're no fun :D I agree, of course. I don't see why a 21 year old should be spending 30-60k on a car, but perhaps he just came into a big inheritance or something (?).

I say do what you want! If you are willing to spend that kind of coinage on a car I bet you have more or have a good plan on getting more $$$ in the future.

Audi!!

I'm 6'4 and I need a big comfortable car. My dad had a 2002 Q45 and it was nice. At the time IMO it was better than the 2002 Lexus LS430, but now the 2004 Lexus LS430 has 6-speed and a whole lot of other goodies that the Q45 just can't touch.

I have houses. That is how I can afford a 30-60k car. When I was 16 I worked and my parents told me not to buy a car and I took their advice. I invested it in property and now I have several that I rent out. This is like my first new/luxury car. All my money I have ever made has been put into property. It is time for me to enjoy life. The only near luxury car I had was a Tl Type-S, but that had major tranmission problems.

Pick anything but the Maxima. Talk about a Saturn on steroids.

Personally, if I was bound and determined to buy a $50k car, I'd get a Caddy CTS-V.

In that case...get an Audi RS6 and screw the mods!!!

I call bs.

Not on the money, but on the choices. No way you can be considering the LS430 and have maxima in the same choices. The LS430 is the finest car in the world. Don't believe all those jaded automotive journalists or magazine racers who say nissan this and bmw that. Drive the LS430. You will understand.

I would buy a nice car around 25K or under and save the rest. If its from a loan, you'll just have smaller monthly loans now for the car. I would also reccomend dropping more in every month for saving for a house, emergency use, etc. Having extra money can help out, especially if you by an unfortunate chance lose your job. By the amount you can save, you should save up atleast 2 to 3 months of paychecks over time so that should you ever be jobless, you can still go for some time. Personally, in your situation, I would shoot for 6 months, but thats just my opinion.

So, what would I get? I'd get an Accord V6 fully loaded except without GPS. Or a 4 cylinder depending on insurance. Don't double your insurance payment over 2 cylinders, :p, seriously. SOmeone here at the forums I remember only got a 4 cylinder because a 6 cylinder would double his insurance payments.

I'd wait till turning 25 to buy a nicer car. By then, you can have saved the money up so no need for loans, and you would know your job situation from a long-term point of view a little better, not that you don't already, but 4 years make a difference.

This isn't a joke and I don't care if people don't believe me.

Yes I have a Maxima vs a Ls430 because if I was to get the Maxima I would probably add 3 t.v screens in there, playstation 2, with a g35 spoiler, 20" wheels, great sounding audio system and a couple mods to make it have more torque steer (Which I heard can be solved by getting it with the VSD(?) ). I really love the way the Maxima looks.

The question is really should I get an LS430 or mod a cheaper car. To have a modded car or to have a stock car.

The reason I will not get a BMW is because I walked into the dealership and they thought I was joking and they refused to even talk to me.. Mercedes was Worse. They won't get any of my business for a new car. I was seriously thinking about leasing a new 750il.

What about a 2001 740il? They go for $30,000. The only thing I would possibly add to that would be a dvd unit to play dvds on the navigation screen.

why would you mod a cheaper car when you can have one of the Lexus flagship model ?

LS430 pwns the Maxima in every way possible. It's pure luxury.
