I replaced the rear brakes (calipers, rotors, pads) about 3 weeks ago. I bled all 4 brakes at that time. My brakes work ok (they stop the car) but the pedal seems soft compared to the '02 Civic. I'm not sure if the cars are just different, or if there is something else I need to do, besides bleeding the brakes, the make the pedal tighter. Thanks!

Dunno if this helps but after my dealer replaced the brakes on my 530i it felt soft and I was worried. However after a day of driving it seemed to return to what I was used to.

Does the vehicle have ABS ?, If so, did you properly bleed the ABS block using a scan tool ?

Yes, it has ABS. And no, I didn't bleed the block. Is it something I could do Rog?

Nothing you can do unless you have the proper scanner, to avoid this problem next time, pinch off the rubber brake hose that leads to the caliper, replace caliper and immediately bleed that side only, this prevents any air trapped in the system from working it's way up to the ABS block and/or master cylinder.

The only cure now is to bring the vehicle to a repair shop, have them hook up a scanner, cycle the ABS block solenoids while re-bleeding the ABS block and brakes using a pressurized brake bleeder.

I never bleed the brakes on an ABS equipped car because I have been told you need special equipment to do it properly.

Roger just confirmed that.
