YACT: brake dust

No Lifer
hate it. can't stand it. why does it only appear mostly on one side (front right) and not the other ?

BTW, my brakes are squealing a lot more but even before that (after new pads, it still squealed a bit) the brake dust was there. Is there any way to prevent it ? I think I saw a cover of some sort at pep boys.

Could be wearing slower on the non-dusty side because of a dry or rusty slide pin or something. You might want to take a look and see if the pads are wearing unevenly.

this is what i put on my wheels. just put on the first application the other day. you might also want to adjust your braking - rather than slowly coming to a stop, remove your foor from the brake completely and instead stop more forcefully.

btw, do you have thin or wide spokes?

95 Isuzu Rodeo ... the black dots aaren't what I'm referring to. Just the dust cover that overtakes the shiny alloy... only the right-front.

Less-than-perfect design, split systems, sticking parts, unequal sliding actions, etc, can contribute to uneven wear.

Sniff it up with a straw.

Brake dust is a hell of a drug.

😛

I think pads are made from asbestos, thats some good $hit.
...I don't think they make asbestos brake pads anymore cuz of it's carcinogenic properties...correct me if I'm wrong.😉
