Temp this morning at 6 am was like 45 F, and noticed that the turn signals didnt work. 8 hours later, come out of work and it's like 55 F, and the turn signals work like there was never anything wrong with them.

vital stats: 93 Dodge Intrepid, 127K miles

You mean they don't flash, or don't come on at all?
It's probably just the flasher unit. You can replace it in about 10 minutes.

Can a flasher unit work at 55F and fail at 45F ?

Most work by having a bimetallic strip as a switch. As the current flows, strip heats up and bends, and turns the flasher off. Then it cools and bends back and turns the flasher back on. So by definition they're temperature sensitive. Although 10 degrees seems like kind of a narrow range. I would just replace the flasher as they're cheap and see if that fixes it.

they dont flash, I guess. When I turn the blinker on, the green arrow doesnt flash inside the car, and the signal light doesnt flash either

EDIT: by flasher unit, do you mean the actual lights or something else inside the car?

Flasher unit located in fuse box

Now mind you, this may or may not fix the problem, the resistance in the flasher circuit may be too high from corrosion, inept mechanics working on it or a meriad of other causes, but this is a cheap way to check it out, the flasher costs about $4.

If the option is available, you could also go with an electronic flasher rather than a thermal flasher. These are available for some cars and especially trucks.

Flashers are located either on the bottom of the fuse block or on a module under the dash. They are replaced by simply pulling them straight out. Note that the prongs are arranged in such a way that the flasher must be properly oriented before attempting to install it. Turn the flasher until the orientation of the prongs is correct and simply push it firmly in until the prongs are fully engaged.

Similar to the picture Roger posted. ;)

Yeah, my last Damn Chrysler only lasted 215,000 miles before it got smashed up by a drunk.

My girlfriend has a 99 Neon. Her blinker started freaking out and she ended up replacing one of the rear bulbs since it seemed to have the most issues. That fixed everything. The blinker relay might not be the total solution...I thought it would be on hers and I stand corrected. I don't know who designed that car of hers, but we're gonna see about trading it in tonight. It's a piece. :p

My last 4 cars have been Chryslers. I'm a glutton for punishment. Engine computer problems, rebuilt engines, rebuilt transmissions, window problems (power and crank), EGR Valves, batteries, alternators, tie rod ends, leaks, electrical problems, etc.

I'm DONE with Chrysler...no MORE.

Don't blame you one bit. :D

Of course, I promised my wife a Dodge truck once I sell the older car and pay off the newer one within this next year. Hope the Ram is more reliable than the Intrepid.

your blinker fluid is freezing, I'd flush the resevoir and fill it with fresh blinker fluid.

;)

You'd think so but my dad's '02 Ram 1500 has already a few nit-picky problems. But, that diesel engine is sweet.

add these additional problems to those bolded above and you have my Intrepid: gas leak, oil leak, coolant leak, front bumper hanging by a thread, 12.4 MPG, burning oil, and prolly more stuff I can't remember.

Anyway, the blinker issue was put on hold, as we had to redo the brakes for the car. I still need to try out the suggestions made as soon as I can. Thanks

BTW, Roger, I assume the aluminum cylinder is the blinker fuse?
