YACT: Best way to hide install of 2 amps / sub in an SUV?

One of the reasons I bought the '98 QX4 was for space. My brother is going to make some type of snap connections for my 12" sub/box so if I need to take it out of the back, it's pretty simple to do. However, I'm worried about mounting my two amps. My brother said the best bet would be to mount them to the back of the rear seats, but I'm concerned they will get in the way when I fold my seats down for more room. Is it possible to mount amps beneath seats? Any other suggestions? Thanks

Did I miss the name change to AnandAudio?

but anyway, as long as the amps have the proper ventillation, I'm sure it'll be fine

You can mount underseats, but it all depends on the amount of space and air flow. If there is a heating vent there, don't do it. what size of amps are you talking about?

One is an old school Rockford Fosgate 600a4 (4 Channel, 75 x 4 RMS) that's about 15" wide or so....

For my sub, it's a Coustic amp about the same width. I was thinking about installing them under the rear seats, where there is no heating vent. I guess I'll have to mess around and see if its possible.

Make sure before you put them in a small fit area that the amps are equipped with thermal overload protection. That way, if you do put them there, you will know if they are getting too hot by them turning off by themselves.
