Yes, I know I've asked similar questions before, but it's getting to the point that I'm not just "window shopping" anymore. The old Lumina I picked up after my Blazer was destroyed in a wreck is on it's last leg (was the day I bought it, honestly, but it's getting worse 🙂 ) I would love to have another little SUV - anything bigger than that old 4-door blazer would be overkill - but I'm afraid my budget might keep me from doing that, unless I want something with a million miles on it. A Ranger / S10 sized truck would be my next choice, followed by some sort of small car. If it weren't for the fact that I do a lot of camping (need space to pack everything, including a couple single-piece fishing rods), I would go for the car in a heartbeat. Another thing that's stopping me is that a truck's extra ground clearance would come in handy; The old dirt roads to a few of my favorite camping spots are...in disrepair, to say the least.
Anyway, my one big requirement is an automatic transmission, even at the expense of performance. I suck at driving a stick. 🙂 Other than that and A/C, bells and whistles are secondary, as long as it's a good, dependable vehicle. The same goes for the price: cheaper is better, as long as it's not an old rust bucket.
Any suggestions will be welcome. Meanwhile, I'm going to keep my eye on the local classifieds and loss-leader ads (yeah, I know those will go over 10k, but if I can stay close and still get a good deal, I'll give it a shot)
