YACT - Best glue for dash pad?

Part of the dash pad on my mom's Lumina is coming apart and I'm going to try glue it back together. What's the best glue for that? Would epoxy work? It's a vinyl covering with thin foam underneath, to be glued to the plastic 'frame/base/main part/whatever you call it', which probably has some residual glue and foam on it - trying to clean this out will probably cause the dash pad to split apart even more.

Also does anyone have a recommendation of a small clamp that I could leave in place to keep it secured? It can't be large since it would be on the front part of the dash pad up against the windshield.

I would say something like 3M spray adhesive. That's what most ppl use for upholstery.

Hmm. I wouldn't think that would be strong enough. People use it for headliners (I have), carpet and such, but this is thicker, harder vinyl (or plastic?) dash material.

Someone mentioned using contact cement? I guess I'm tossed between using it or 3M adhesive spray.
Also have 2 part epoxy, a couple of the Loctite adhesives...this and this, Goop automotive adhesive & sealant, Homax Welder, Shoe Goo, and E6000 glue.

I was wondering how well this would work. The area is about 6-7" long x about 2-3".

Still trying to find some sort of clip too. Something flat & not very big. Any idea what one would be used on? That would help to rely less on the glue to hold.

What's that normally used for? Isn't that what they seal windshields with?

Advice from anyone else welcome.

Slickone;

Here's what you do ;

Clean the area with acetone, both surfaces.

Apply a coating of 3M weatherstrip adhesive to both surfaces.

Lay a piece of cellophane over the dash, over the cellophane lay a piece of cardboard, over the cardboard lay a small board (two by four or the like).

Next take a piece of two by four and gently prop up the assembly by jamming it between the back of the drivers seat and the wooden block that's over the cardboard, let it dry for two hours.

I have the dash pad removed from the car, so don't need to do all that.

I can't really clean it well since as I mentioned there's a thin layer of (hard) foam attached to the covering. I didnt think 3M spray adhesive would be strong enough either (as I mentioned).?

Pics coming...
