the ford escape is apparently very reliable.

This is anandtech, we all "know" american cars are crap. The ford is junk so is the Chevy Equinox. Did you not get the anandtech fanboy memo? 😛

Well, CRV is the obvious alternative, but there a Highlander hybrid either coming or already out that's rated 33mpg CITY!

Honda Pilot.

Too big for his tastes.

How long can he hold out for a new car? I'd recommend the 2007 Santa Fe, 5/60,000 warranty is . Hyundai is seriously going to corner a good share of the car market this year. Their new vehicles are apples & oranges compared to past year's models.

holy crap, that looks like a mini FX45. Damn.

Those were my thoughts exactly.

I went to look at a Rav4 two weeks ago and they didn't have a V6 on the lot .. dealer said to stop back in two weeks. What I'm hearing out of other states that do have them is the much higher than anticipated price for it ! Initially it was supposed to sell for 25K well optioned, but with no rebates/incentives it is much closer to 30K. Thats too damn high for me, so I went and looked at a Kia Sorento which is only 22.5K after rebates. Knowing how you guys just love Kia, I won't bother going into detail, but I think I'd be better off waiting a few months for the new lines to come out, with the Ford Edge, Mazda CX7 and Toyota FJ models coming out in two more months.

He's looking closely at the CR-V and Murano.

What is the status of the new Infiniti FX25?

FX25?
I think you mean the CX25? It's not out yet and won't be for awhile, if at all.

I've rented a Murano and I was quite suprised at how comfortable the vehicle is to ride in. Also, it handles amazingly well in snow.
