No, but insurance companies only care about the claims-rate of a particular vehicle. If the see a higher-claims rate per vehicle on an '86 Accord than an '86 Porsche, they're going to charge a higher premium on the Accord.
 
I drive a 94' Civic DX (base model) and love it for a commuter car. I get 35+ mpg on trips and consistently get 30+ mpg around the city. I'm 21 with no tickets or accidents and i pay $105/mo for full coverage, $250 deductable.
