What options would a guy have if he's looking for a new AWD or RWD car under about $40K CND(~$30K US) that can be driven year round in a Canadian climate?

Obviously, FWD is going to leave me exponentially more options, but I honestly dislike them for my own reasons. So I'm looking for cars available right now, or within the next year or two, since I hear many of the American makers are moving some lines back to RWD(true?).
You guys seem like you're always on the lookout, so who better to ask. ;)

You could get a 300hp AWD Subaru Impreza WRX STi for that price and be the envy of all your friends. ;)

SUVs would be alright as well. They pretty much all fit into my criteria though, so it's just a matter of finding a good looking, well equiped one, in my price range.

I don't know much about ALL the car manufacturers out there though(I'm a bike guy), that's the problem. :)

I suppose this would also be cutting my options in half even more, but the WRX honestly isn't a hugely appealing car to me. Granted, I've yet to drive one, but purely based on looks. It seems kind of "boy-racerish", even more than what I'd accept. Maybe it's just the STi though, that does that to me. That's way out of my range up here($46K base). :)

Dayum 46k base. I think they're low 30's here, and the can-us exchange rate should point to a lower price than 46k!

WRX does look boy racerish. Drive one anyway, but audi is probably what you want :)

You have only one choice: WRX STi. There are a lot of other RWD cars in that price range too, but it seems like AWD would be better for your climate.

[edit]Sorry, I waited too long to post this. It looks like you're not all about the WRX.[/edit]

You mean to tell me that THIS is going to have 250hp, AWD, paddle shifting five speed for under $30K?! Maybe I'm just giddy cause it has the specs I want in a car, but that sounds like a heck of a deal for people in the market for a sedan. Like me. :)

I'd look at an Audi for sure, it'd probably have to be A4 or nothing though, as far as staying in my price range. Highly rated cars?
