YACT: Autozone + engine light is on

My engine light just turned on. Assuming it's something like a sensor that is bad. But I want to make sure and get the issue resolved. I heard that Autozone does the CPU check for free. That is, asking the car's computer what it thinks is wrong.

Is this corect and do all autozone's do this?

To be safe, I already checked the oil level.

Of course, any advice is welcome.

AWESOEM PEOPLE!

I forgot one other thing.

Do you just ask near the checkouts? Or is there another area to go to?

Just ask anyone there...give them your ID, go out, turn the key on, plug into the OBD-II connector (should be under the steering column), and follow the on-screen instructions..

I actually own 2 of these, branded Snap-On. One is a handheld checker, the other is practically a station.

The smaller of the two is $3000++ and additional carts are like $600 each. I picked it up for $250 with about 15 carts for different makes and models at a pawn shop =)

If makes sense for Autozone to give you the diagnostics for free. Odds are that you need a new part to fix the problem, and you're either going to get the part from them or just let them fix it.
