Thinking about an accord or an aura. Any others I should look at?

So far I'm leaning toward Aura cause its quieter and has a bigger engine at the same price point, but my wife prefers the Accord because it drives slightly better (it really does)

Just get the Accord. It is a safer bet.
The Saturn L-series was supposed to compete with Accord and Camry when it came out too. But now those cars are junk. The Aura will probably be junk soon. Just stick with the Accord.

Aura, it's an excellent car. Accords (and Camry's) are too damn common.

if you seriously have the opportunity and money to buy a nasa satellite, then i say go for that!

edit: serious answer, go with the accord over the saturn. but of course i have a bias towards honda.

edit2: this thread needs a poll!

It's all about rock-paper-scissors.

The Accord SE seems to be a decent value if you don't need leather seats and butt warmers.

I want to like the Aura but don't think I could ever bring myself to buy another new domestic vehicle. I'd go used and save myself about 50%.

So is resale value the only thing keeping you from buying domestic?

Probably will go with the Accord, just wanted to see if there were other options out there or if anyone had any opinions for / against. We had an accord back in the 90s and it was good, I also had an SL2 that I liked until we totalled it, but it did do its job right and kept us safe :)

Honda quality beats anything Saturn has to offer.

Honda quality overrated.

It's still better than Saturns.

According to who? Consumer Reports?

Everybody. Does it take a rocket scientist to figure this one out?

You mean everyone on ATOT, which clearly has an import biased. Heck, according to ATOT, Toyota is an American car company, and GM and Ford only produce cars in Mexico.

Well, the Camry FAP is in Kentucky, the Accord FAP is in Ohio and GM hasnt made a Camaro outside of Toronto in a long while.

My suburban was made in Silao, the F350 that hit me yesterday was made in Mexico.

Its not a big surprise that the Motown three might as well be called the Mexican Three.

For buying new, pretty much. I just couldn't bring myself to buy a $23k car when I could buy a year older one with 15,000 miles on it for $10,000 less. The value just isn't there.

You don't have that disparity between new & used with many import vehicles, hense the easier decision to buy the new one.

So your argument for getting the Aura is "Accord and Camrys are too common" - how does that even relate to reliability? And no, it's not just ATOT that thinks Honda has better reliability.

Nissan Altima, and the hybrid model if you live in one of those states that sell it.
Only $24k for 42/36 mpg.

QFT. I own a 2002 L-series. I've also own a '95 Saturn SW2 and a '00 Saturn SW2. I'll never buy another Saturn.

Repairs so far:
- 3 fuel pumps due to the dealership not being able to tell the noise was from the exhaust. THey thought it was the fuel pump, so they changed that.
- Entire steering rack
- Stabilizer links in the front
- Rear alignment is always off and cups the tires. It's due for it's third set of tires at 80,000 miles
- Transmission (automatic) slips and grinds when taking off from a stop with a load in the car. We had it serviced at 60,000.

Oh, and on my '00 SW2, the head decided to destroy itself at 54,000 miles and required a complete head assembly replacement. Fortunately, we had a warranty. It had problems with it's wiper control motors failing (both front and rear independently failed).
Just stick with the Honda.

WTH? Did I said it equated with reliability. Accords and Camrys are just boring as hell to look at.

All midsized cars are boring to look at. Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Malibu, Chrysler Sebring are all boring too.

DUDE its ok, we get it. You're into cars that are lucky to get over 100k miles.

And yes, my oil purchases are funding terrorists.

That's interesting, the Tacoma, that rear ended my brother was made in T.J. Must mean Toyota is Mexican too.
