YACT: Audio Help

My friend has a 2001 Grand Prix and wants to put in an audio system...

He has a Sony Xplod head unit he wants to put in and is looking for speakers, possibly a sub/amp...

I don't know much about car systems and know that some people on here know tons about them...

He has about a budget of $500 give or take $50...

Any help is appreciated, if you have links to this stuff and price estimates I'd appreciate it also...

Thanks in advance

He probably would do that but buying another head unit would really kill the $500 he has... Unless you guys have some other options that would work together under $500?

Well, you could definitely get another HU for about $200, Alpine or similar. That leaves $300 for speakers. That could get something like Infinity or Polk. That'd make a decent starting point. If he manages to shop carefully and find some deals there may be room for an amp. I would not try to include a sub with that budget.

He *might as well* keep the headunit, as little as I like Sony.

Get a nice front component setup, $200.
Get a nice sub, $150.
Get a nice 4channel amp, $150.

Powering the sub with what?

The amp has 4 channels, and the component set would eat up 2 channels.
