Fleet vehicles aren't all former rentals. Many are former company cars. Those are the ones to have.

My wife and I have purchased off-lease cars through local dealerships twice now. The first was a '97 Lumina and the second (current) is an '02 Taurus. Both cars had around 30,000 on them (1 year old) when purchased. We got rid of the Lumina at 100k and the Taurus is currently around 65k. Neither one had any major issues to speak of and her next car will probably be an off-lease as well. They've been a good value so far.

I don't know why some people think it's okay to beat on a rental simply because it's not yours. I know I certainly wouldn't loan ANYTHING to someone who admits to doing it just in case their "it's not mine so why not beat on it" mentality applies to items loaned to them as well.

It's not your property, treat it with some respect.
