I'm car shopping and been wanting a 350z for a while but finally got around to checking one out and sitting in it (friend has one) and it was way too firm and I couldn't imagine it being good for a long trip, he said that was the way it was with most sports cars. true?

If it's too stiff you are too old.

haha im 23!

Perhaps a Camry is in your future. ;)

FYI, a 250z is VERY soft for a 'sports' car.

i'd feel way too old driving a camry, i'm thinking the 07 altima or accord coupe, just wanted something that doesn't take 11 hours to get from 0-60 like my current 4 speed 105hp jetta :)

No, my Custom Cruiser GA is the most comfortable car I've ever driven.

07 camry se - 0-60 5.8 sec, looks pretty good with nice (classy) rims. Better than the accords.

07 camry > accord > altiima > older camrys

I have no problem making long trips. The point of a car is to drive it. I enjoy mine whether I drive 5 miles or 500 miles.

QFMFT!

And by the way, 300ZX (prev generation) has the best stock seats I've ever sat it.

Let me rephrase...

sports cars arent made for long trips, just like f350s arent made to be drag trucks... but its easy to do 10s in a slighly modified one.

Just b/c its not MADE to do something doesn't mean it can't. I was just stressing that they're not DESIGNED to be comfy for long trips

Ditto. I drove my Boxster from Atlanta to Chicago and it was super comfortable. My wife even remarked how comfortable she was throughout the entire trip. Nothing like a roadtrip in an open convertible during the summer! It was a blast!

Now with my 4 year old daughter, roadtrip means minivan. :(

The 951 is one hell of a comfortable car. Drove it from Seattle to LA and back about a month ago.

You need to weigh the value of being comfortable on long trips and whether or not this is something that's important to you. I've spent a couple hours in a Lotus Elise and while it is tiring the joy of driving it far outweighs the negatives.

All cars are a trade off, you trade comfort and utility for performance, you just need to decide what you are willing to trade in comfort for performance. I've never actually driven a 350Z but I have driven the G35 coupe a number of times and it's definitely a car I could live with on a daily basis.

basically you have to find the perfect compromise. even for a TL, which is not supposed to be that hardcore, has pretty firm suspension i think. the suspension in the G35 sedan seems to be reasonable- not too stiff, but not much body roll either.
