Here's the problem, I was in a car accident. After the accident, the car was repaired by the Insurance's autobody shop. I got the car home and noticed that when I drive it around 30-40 MPH, there's a ticking noise that could be heard from the right rear passanger side. The noise could be heard when the passenger's window is opened. It sounds like something is hitting something else as the wheels turn.

I take the car back to the shop. They can't find anything wrong with it. They took it to Big O's, who also can't find anything wrong with it. But we can all hear the noise. Finally I told them to take it to the dealer (Honda). The dealer says, they can't find anything wrong with it and now they want to charge me $80 for the inspection since they can't find anything wrong with the car so they're saying it can't be accident related. WTF! I will also have to pay for a week of car rental since I rented a car for the week that it was being inspected! Double WTF! My car was hit in the rear, passenger's side and front driver's side. I can hear the noise, they can hear the noise, they just can't find out the cause. What should I do?

Possibly a suspension bushing or the springs/shocks. Could also be the brake rotor...also could be a bearing thats going south...

I'd talk to your insurance company and file a complaint that the bodyshop didn't fix the car to your satasfaction. They should be able to do something about it.

Bingo. Talk to them about paying the Honda fee also, you shouldn't pay for it.

They said they checked the brakes and its fine. They were thinking about replacing the shocks but said that 80% of the cost would come out of my pockets since the Shocks were not new and so wear and tear would be considered.

I better give the Appraiser a call I guess.

This could be something as simple as a muffler or tail pipe clearance problem. Only temporarily wedge a block of wood between the undercarriage and tail pipe. Drive it a short distance to see if the noise changes or goes away. Remove the block of wood. Hope its as simple as that...
