YACT: Any sites that can show me how to replace an Alternator

Any sites out there that can guide me through replacing my Alternator for my 1990 626.

I'v been googling but nothing so far.

Thanks,

just buy the service guide (you can usually get them from any decent car hardware shops and if you own an older car they'll pay for themselves a million times over)...

Got persuasive personal skills? Go to the service desk at a Mazda dealership, & ask the guy to look the procedure up (complete with diagrams, etc.). Then ask him to make a copy for you.

Also, your local or university library would be a good place. They probably have a lot of the Chilton's/equivalent books, especially for older cars.

all you really need is to know what it looks like (& where it is) for ID... then just remove the clip and loosen a long bolt... lining it up and putting it back in is the tricky part if you have a cramped engine bay

Ahhh, lucky you. Unless I'm mistaken (we got rid of our 626 a couple of years ago), the job is going to be a pita - very cramped area, as you have at best 1 inch clearance. I had to replace a harmonic balancer on our 626 - major pita to get the belt back on until I got good at it. (Had to do it twice; second time we realized something else was causing it to prematurely fail. Shortly thereafter, we dumped the car.)
