I plan on rebuilding my engine next summer but I'd like to know as much as possible before I do it. Any good books/resources I can read up on?

Not really.. every engine is different - but at least they share the same basic theory.

The best way to learn is to jump in. Try working on a junk engine first, then do yours.

Line honing, magna-fluxing, cross-hatching, decking. Learn your terms and find a good machine shop.
