YACT: Antenna cable question

So I'm putting an FM modulator in my car to give me a line-in.

However, Ford uses a non-standard antenna cable connector so I'm between either buying two adapters for a fair amount of money or making two splices - I'm leaning towards the splices but I would like to be warned beforehand if antenna cable are very difficult to splice (i.e. coaxial and things of this nature).

Buy the adapters. Splicing coax without the tools is a b*tch and yes, antenna cables are coax, even on automobiles.

Went with the adapters. This way if it doesn't all work out right I can just disconnect it and restore it to the way it was before.
