YACT: am I weird or the Jaguar X-Type is WAY TOO SEXY !!!

I am (kinda) thinking about leasing the X-type. (279 / month, 2900 down for 39 month)

I honestly think the X Type is gorgeously beautiful but all my friends said it looks too old for me. its like a teenager driving a 5 series, as they put it.

I am 21 and I think it would look just fine with me 🙂

yes yes, I know all about its Reliability problems, so that's why I am (probably) leasing it and throw the junk back to the dealer.

I don't think I've read a good review on the car yet. Plagued with reliability and material quality problems. Basically a rebadged Ford Mondeo yet it costs a fortune! But hey if you like it, that's what matters.

YEAH! but I like the X Type because of the luxury factor, not for the racy appearance. beside, 227hp for a v6? bleh. go Nissan VQ.

Don't forget the VQ has an extra .5L of displacement. Back when it was a 3.0L, it only put out 190hp. 🙂

andy - pics = :camera: 😉

just to give everyone an idea of what the car looks like (I know, but others may not, ya kno??)

🙂

I think the X-Type definitely looks good but I certainly would never buy it. Too many problems with it.

I must admit, the X is a very smooth car. It looks cool (espically in Adriatic Blue!), rides nice, and is very comfortable. The reliability factor didn't bother me all that much, either. All of the service visits were free, roadside assistance was included, and I was planning on returning the car after my lease was up.

Only problems were that $279 lease price goes up a LOT once you add all the options that you'll want. The base model doesn't even come with the CD Player, for crying out loud! I also had a slight nagging feeling that I was driving a car that was better suited for my parents than myself. I ended up picking up an Audi A4 instead of the X-Type, mostly because it had better handling and more options for the final lease price.

or 227, but hey, you were only off by 37 hp.

Maybe you fell for their advertising. 😉

I was just gonna point to that link myself. Maybe you are *g*y*.....

But all that apart, the X-Type is a POS. It's hardly better than a Passat in Handling, has el-cheapo Ford interiors, quite unreliable (parts literally fall off) and is about 10-15K$ more expensive that it's worth. On the bright side, since they are not selling too well and if you are a badge whoore, you can get a great discount. 😛

My dad has one. It's a nice car, but at 21 you need to be doing more responsible things with your money than leasing Jaguars.

Like what? I hate it when people tell others how to spend their money. Are you his financial advisor? No...then shut it.

Touchy, touchy. You come on this board saying that you're a 21 year old interested in a Jaguar you're inviting opinions. That's exactly what I did. Who shat in your cornflakes, chump?
