YACT: Adding air conditioning

I don't know how feasible this is, but I'd like to add air conditioning in my '92 Ford Ranger.

Does anybody have a rough estimate of how much this would cost and where I should have it done (mechanic vs. dealer)?

Thanks! 😀

David

see if you can find a 92 ford ranger in a junkyard with a/c and just swap the parts over. you'll need the a/c compressor and brackets, condensor (in front of radiator), evaporator (in dash or on the firewall), wiring, control panel, and a few other misclenous items. not familare with your truck but these swaps arent unheard of and aren't usually to hard to do.

You can get new components like the compressor, evap, etc instead of getting them out of a junkyard but there are certian things, like the evap housing that you will need to scavange a junkyard truck at some point.

Doing the swap wont be cheap, it could easily end up costing more then the truck is worth if depending on if you buy all new components and let the installation be done at a dealership.
