I need to do some AC work and will have to vacuum out my AC before I can refill it with freon. I don't want to have to bring it into the shop everytime I need to have it vacuumed out. I was looking at vacs on ebay and came across these. Do they work? How can they be so cheap?
You can buy that thing at Harbor Freight Tools for basically what he's asking for minus shipping.
It is a venturi type vacuum pump. There are water powered ones to that gets pretty pretty darn close to 32" of vacuum. The difference between vacuum pumps is the last fractions of inches of vacuum and this is the important part to dry out the system.
If you have Freon in it right now, you can forget it. It's illegal to vent it out.
