If you switched jobs and your new company was 45 miles away and you had a car allowance, what car would you get in order to

1. maximize your comfort
2. minimize the gas expense
3. enjoy the, mostly highway, drive

?

haven't done the math, but figure $400/month

I considered and eliminated the miata as too noisy for long drives.

lol i skimmed the thread and somehow came up with "maximum comfort on the highway on the company dime"

maybe you can squeeze out a $400 lease on an IS350, 28 mpg highway.

was going to suggest this myself.

What kind of car are you looking for OP? sports car? suv? sedan? motorcycle?

one that meets the above criteria

A small sports sedan or hatch would probably work, but not one with a loud exhaust - those cars are fun to drive but not to commute in.

are you leasing, or planning on being with the company long enough to buy?

Are they giving you the $400 without documentation?

Perhaps a cheap car with enough money to left over to pay for the gas.

do those use premium? remember to factor in the additional $0.20 per gallon. at $2.00 per gallon it's like getting 10% worse mileage. so, 25 mpg (increased gas prices narrow that difference, of course).

For pure practicality, either a Hyundai Elantra GT or a Sonata. Good price, comfy, fuel efficient.

yeah i'm sure it does, i've never really considered it cause in kali, it's like 2.90 for piss gas and sometimes premium is barely .15 more.

I don't think a lease is going to work for this guy, since a 45 mile commute each way is over 20,000 miles a year.
