About a week ago, I go and fire up the engine in my car and decide to go to the store. Car starts right up, handles as normal, ect. I get back into it, and it starts, but None of the led's Are working on the central console for the heat and stereo. Everything around them, however is illuminated. Perplexed, i checked the light levels, and turned on the stero/ heater. nothing. I conclude that this is a little fishy, so I begin the drive back home. Looking under the gas gauge, I see the: E-brake light, battery light and ABS light all illuminated. I know for a fact the e-brake is functional, and not engaged, so that was odd. The battery made sense, but the abs.. They worked quite fine. Fast forward for two days. I go to open the door, to return to the store, but alas, there is no illumination from the dome light. Wtf, I think. I go to turn on the car, and nothing. The key is at a 35 degree angle and I am greeted by silence. I am thinking that this is battery related, pop a new one in there, and it'll work fine. But that's where I must ask, what's up with it?

Cliffs:
*Go to store, car works like a charm.
*Come back, emergency lights are on and the center console doesn't light up when on.
*Two days later, car refuses to start, I think it's a dead battery.

Could also be an alternator (or voltage regulator) that. A bad alternator will cause a battery to fail, plus it will cause the symptoms you noted before. Put a DMM on the battery and check it when the car is on to make sure it's getting a good charge...better yet have autozone test it.
