Non riced civic, bone stock, someone tried to get into my car and jambed something in the drivers side door lock. How much would a new lock cost and do I have to get it through the dealership? Autozone doesn't appear to sell them. How much would something like this cost?

Sounds like a dealer only item or your could have a locksmith see if they can unjam it.

Cost could be a little as $50 to $200 depending if they sell it as a set. A set would include both front doors, truck or hatch, and glove or storage compartment if it uses a key.

Does it stick out any? Have you tried everything you can think of to pull whatever it is out?
Do you think it damaged the lock in some way, that even if you were to get it out, it would no longer work?

I'd go straight to ebay myself. In my experience, the dealership prices are usually outrageous.

it was a screwdriver, there's probably nothing left inside, just the metal's all mangled and you can't fit your key in.

happened to me when i was on vacation, thankfully it was a rental and i got the full insurance options.

It really sounds like a dealer replacement part, unless you don't mind getting 2 keys, 1 for the door and 1 for the ignition.

There doesn't appear or feel to be anything still in there so I'm thinking they used a screwdriver. Ebay doesn't really have anything.

I contacted a dealer, waiting for a response.

What was the response?

Probably something akin to "Bend over and lube up, here's our estimate" 😛

I guess dealers don't respond to email unless you are interested in a car. I just haven't had the chance to call one.

Not for something like fixing a door lock. Just call or stop by and talk to one of the service guys.
