My dad's got extensive testing procedure in both his manual for his 87. The 86 to 87 is a little different, t30 to t25 turbo but the MAF should be the same. I'll see if I can get him to email me some pics tommorow.

My dad had a 86 300zx. It was pretty cool. It was completely digital (speedometer and tach). It even talked and would announce whenever the door was ajar or the lights were left on.

this one is analog, which is just fine with me, the digital dashes sometimes have issues when they start getting older

yeah, every now and then the dash would just "go out". oh well. it was in perfect conditon though. not one crack in the leather. it also had climate control where all you had to do was set the temperature, digital compass, and the stock radio had a built in 16 band eq, an amp, and steering wheel controls. not to mention the car had power windows and ABS. it was insane for an 86.

Thats why my dad bought this one. It's very close to the one he owned in the 80's and is unbelivable for a car as old as it is. It looks less than a year old and drive's like it too. Not a scratch on the paint, crack in the leather. Everything has been replaced with original Nissan parts as it aged.

mine is in pretty good shape...no rust at all, a couple nicks on the paint, but nothing major...interior is in excellent shape...i love it

and looking through the glove box just now trying to find the reciept for when it was replaced last time i found the original invoice from april, 1986...sticker was 19K

i can't try the MAF test right now since i don't have anyone to kill the engine 🙁

i'm about to drive over to a buddy's house and see what it does...if no glow, i'll pick up another one tomorrow...how much should i expect to pay for a new one? my grandfather put that one on the car right before i got it, so i don't know how much it cost

EDIT: autozone.com says $200...sound about average? would it be a good idea to get one in a salvage yard, or should i just pony up the 2 bills and get a new one?

As far as i know MAF's are pretty expensive. I'm not sure what parts go for in the US but my guess would be 150-200....maybe more?
