what does getting stuck in the snow have anything to do with this thread? dumb drivers get stuck in the snow, not cars.
And yes it's still *just* a neon. But it's a fast neon. Hate it all you want, but for 21K, it's the fastest thing you can buy on 4wheels.
And yes it's *just* FWD. But the neon is a track veteran. Its racing legacy in the SCCA is well known.
I may be a bit biased though, since my brother just picked up an SRT-4 and I think it's a sweet ride.

I'd much rather have a 500 HP Camaro than a 500 HP Neon, but that's just me.
Viper GTS
i'd rather have a 650 HP trans am, but thats just me
I'd rather have a 1000+ HP chevelle that gets 3 gal to the mile.

I couldn't agree more. I think I'd rather have a Cavalier then a Neon.

*Stock internals* - Hmm. So it's using the same con-rods and crank, but every other component has been upgraded, right?
There is no way the stock ECU and Injectors will fuel enough for 500hp.

B!tch all you want, but none of your cars will even come close to that srt-4. It's not still a neon, I don't think neons are turbocharged.
If you had read the srtforums link, you would know that they upgraded the ECU and the entire fuel system, in addition to the turbo, intercooler, an exhaust. Else the pistons would probably have melted.Originally posted by: DivideBYZero

Yes, it is a Neon, and speak for yourself. Lots of people have nice cars here. And 500hp in an srt-4 would be mostly for show -- they have a lot of trouble controlling the power in those cars and putting it down to the pavement. I'm sure it does crazy burnouts though.Originally posted by: virtueixi

that is quite wicked indeed... 500HP at the wheels... all you haters really just have to admit how sweet that is honestly.
don't see too many 4cyl cheapo cars putting down that kind of numbers.... i'd drive that thing proudly that's for damn sure.

In this reference, "stock internals" means that no internal engine component has been changed, i.e. crank, valves, cams, con-rods, pistons, etc.

I'm not saying that it isn't impressive. 500hp for a 4-cyl is VERY impressive. Obviously a great motor. I'm just saying I wish D-C put that motor in a better car.

I don't think anyone who fixes up an old accord has any place to be dissing neons, but of course thats just my opinion................

In a straight line. If I get a car with ANYWHERE NEAR that much power, I better have world class suspension and chassis design that will keep me glued to the pavement.
Just because it's fast does not necessarily mean its good.
Exactly, I'd like to see video of it on the stock internals with the odometer at 50K miles.Originally posted by: vi_edit
