really dont know if the difference is crucial.

and what i want the civic would be cheaper also.

the civic dash and gagues are really awesome though. loved them

With that much driving, a 14% improvement in fuel economy would mean a lot to me.

Civic, better mpg, nice comfort features. Softer ride. Better resale value. Tried and true reliability.

Yes the Mazda 3 is sportier, but that's what the new Civic SI is for 🙂

Honda resale > Mazda resale

also

I've just had a waaaaaaaaaaay better experiences with honda's past 100k miles than mazda's if you're going to keep it that long.

Mazda 3 isnt all too old itself, and its a honda. They've got a proven track record for knowing what theyre doing in making reliable cars, and I see no reason for it to change.

Ok, I'll chime in on this debate since I've pretty much driven all three cars. I personally just got a mazda 3, my girlfriend has a civic, and my sister has a corolla.

I think the 3 is the nicest looking, with the nicest interior (gauges, radio etc.).

The Civic gets the best gas mileage (though the corolla is pretty close I think or the same).

Toyota has the most comfortable seats (a little bit more comfy than the 3, although it's close). However the interior trim isn't anything special.

As far as how they drive. I think the corolla and the mazda are pretty much in the same league as far as acceleration is concerned. I haven't pushed my mazda yet but I was always pretty happy with the way the corolla accelerated.

I know you weren't exactly looking at the corolla but it's good for comparison.

You failed to mention how the 3 handles. Screw acceleration.
