YACT: 1994 Accord EX with 1 million + miles

I know my Girlfriend'd Dads 93-94ish Chevy Pickup has at least 500k on the clock, still goin strong with no problems.
Its all in the care you give to your car, treat it like dirt and it die quickly.

130,000 miles a year? Jeebus, I thought my 30k or so was an impressive feat 😕

Not only that, he did this driving in the Washington, DC area -- where our traffic isn't the most fun and is usually only moving along at 30 M.P.H. This whole story is quite impressive - how the car still has the original muffler, etc. I guess that just proves a point that the original driver took this car on longer trips where the condensation had time to get out of the exhaust system - instead of creating rust.

i'd hope my accord makes it that far, but at the rate i drive, i'd probably be 75 before it made it. and the thought of driving a 50 year old accord isn't too appealing, even if it's mechanically sound.

i dont' think our family has owned a car that went over 130,000 miles period!

our last 89 buick was pretty close, but the tranny got shot on the highway somewhere around 100k and we sold it..

wonder how much the million mile wonder will fetch

Brother's Subura has 290K on it, still runs like a top. My new Acura only has 80K on it.... it runs perfect too... 1 million miles is insane though.

i would assume so, since (if i remember correctly) you reset odometers when you rebuild or replace an engine. but with a honda or toyota engine, there's no reason why it couldn't last that long with proper care. probably all the "support" parts have bit the dust though. although, only being a 1994, i'd bet a lot of stuff like radiators (or as mentioned, the muffler) are probably still original.

This would be odometer fraud at its worst. While the engine may be fresh, the transmission, body, and various other systems would still have the mileage on them. There are plenty of things that can go wrong with a car that aren't engine related.

That said, the Honda that's topped 1 million miles is pretty amazing.

This reminds me of a Married With Children episode.

I wonder if Honda would give him a new car.

Lol, I remember that one. Al's Dodge is about to turn over 1 mil, and Dodge will give him a new Viper if they can film the odo. rolling over...so he drives it till it's at 999,999.9 miles and sleeps in it to prevent something from going wrong. Then his arm slips and knocks it out of park, and it rolls out of the driveway...rolling the odometer over 😀

Poor Al 🙁

I saw that episode. That whole show was kind of strange. Black Comedy?

There was a post a while ago about a Volvo hitting 2 million miles. It was big news at Volvo, I believe they flew the owner to the HQ and presented him with a new car.
