what's all this oil analysis stuff you guys are talking about? Links please.. :)

Oil Analyzers
Is that who you use? Any advantage over Blackstone that you know of?

Cheaper maybe? Shrug. Haven't looked into it in a while.

No advantage that I am aware of. When I switched all the fluids in both vehicles over to full synthetic I got a 5 pack of analysis kits so that is what I started with. They now have the vehicle histories in their database so I will stick with them at least until that diesel F-350 magically appears in the driveway (which means I would also need to remodel the garage to fit it in :) ).

You ever think there's a reason for that? :p

When it comes to 10W-30, It's also not as good. Err..

Ewww.. For 12$ a gallon, it's garbage. 410º flash point, High Temp/High Shear = 2.90. The only good thing is it's high TBN of 11.5.

If you need a diesel oil, you would be much better off with Mobil Delvac 1300 Super conventional oil. 439º flash point, HT/HS = 3.60, TBN=11.0.

It is under 6$ a gallon at Wal-Mart. ;) I should know. It just happens to be what I use in both my Dad's Camry and my Chevy PU w/ hipo 350. After some extensive price/specs analysis, it was the best bang for the buck I could find.

I use the 15W-40 flavor, though.

If you want a cheaper than AMSOil synthetic, Valvoline SynPower and Havoline Synthetic are the next best things(speaking only for 5W-30 and 10W-30).

Almost certainly, if you stick to a 3k interval while using these oils, you are wasting your money. But I guess that could be worth it to you if the peace of mind is worth it.

Why do I deserve to be elite?

Because I revel in the idea of taking care of an expensive, precision piece of machinery?

Seems like a no-brainer to me, but whatever floats your boat. ;)
