I'm about to do some research and see, but I think my Dad got a pretty good deal on this.

2006 Chevy Avalanche FlexFuel
1500 4WD Z71
No DVD or Nav
Has all other options: OnStar, XM, Leather, etc
No luggage rack
Has hard tonneau cover
$38,900

That price includes the tradein on an 04? Ford Explorer SportTrac that he is about $4K upside down on and he's got 0% financing on the Avalanche.

Good or bad deal?

I don't think I'd touch an '06. The 07's are MUCH nicer. The 06's do have a $6,000 rebate though...

Its all about the price man. He shouldn't be affording this as it is  Damn fiscally irresponsible parents

Friend = father
Avalanche gets better gas mileage than most trucks and this is FlexFuel, better than nothing
Also, gas is payed by his company, as is his car payment.

why is he buying an 06, and ofr 38k at that?

06's should be discounted HUGELY.

the 07's are a mile and a half better than the 06's...

or are you just saying 06 accidently and meaning 07

Apparently reading comprehension is turned off today ;)

He traded in a vehicle he was upside down on, so knock $4,000 off of that price.

No its an 06 man. My Dad knows how to work the dealers, so I'm betting if he could get an 07 in his price range he would. But the 07's don't have $6K in rebates. I told him myself to get an 07, don't they include a 5-speed auto now?

You can suck my balls. I was just scanning through the post and didn't notice the one time he mentioned that it was his dad. I did see "HE" mentioned a few times so I assumed it was a friend.

4 spd auto still, 6 spd comes next year... when they can actually build enough.

i cant remember what my dad paid for his 04 when he bought it, i know what he traded it in for with 110k miles, the only problems he ever had were a ball join, and the Cat Convert. hell, he still had original brake pads/rotors when he traded it in

Yeah I'm reading up and short of new bells+whistles & design, I'm not seeing a huge diff in the 06 vs 07. A big difference to me would be technological advantages: tranny, engine, actual body structure (not just cosmetic), etc. What about DoD?

the 07 is GMT900 based, the 06 is GMT800 based.

the interior of the old is like a 1999 GM interior, the 07 is the same as the new Suburban...
better materials, seats, touch/feel, ride, etc, its all better

yeah I'm seeing that now. Looks nice, but I think he's stuck with the 06. He needs the 0% financing and that's not available on the 07's, not to mention no discounts. I told him straight up to wait until he could get the most new tech for his money, but he doesn't listen to me! He's wanted an Avalanche forever and now's his chance

I guess essentially $34K is as good as he's gonna get, esp with financing.

Yeah I'm hitting the dealerships around here to see what they've got. How do you know it was sold for $25,900? That seems like a LOT off, he'd probly drive to Florida for that price LOL
