Dealer is asking 14995+ttl for an Certified used '05 Corolla LE w 9000 miles. Edmunds values are as follows on this model: Certified:$15,451 Dealer:$14529 Private:$13406,Tradein:$12132. What should I offer on this car? Is it better to offer over email or in person? Do you think they will go down much? I was thinking of offering 13.5k. Is this too lowball? Any tips/suggestions? If paying cash/personal check do you mention this? I am trying to get a good deal?

Thanks to all who post

i've seen new corolla's for lower than that. bad deal. 13.5 sounds ok. tell them you are willing to spend 12.5k. and never settle for that "finance through dealer" crap.

the msrp for a new one is barely over 15k. first, nobody buys a corolla at msrp. second, that one has 9000 miles on it, and they want near msrp for it???

Certified preowned is almost always a rip-off. Either spend a bit more for a new one, or buy a good, clean one with clean record privately.
