YACRT: Transmission flush?

I knew my tranny was going out, but didn't know it'd be this soon. It's been slipping a lot lately and today on the drive to work, it wouldn't shift from 1st into 2nd. (I can barely reach 35 before the car is about to redline, so I ended up just driving 20 to and from work)

We changed out the transmission fluid (Dexron II iirc) a few months back which helped the slipping but ever since about a week or two ago, it has been slipping slightly from 1st->2nd and 2nd->3rd.

I'm just curious - would a transmission fluid flush temporary help my problem, enough so it will last until January, or would that just be "flushing" money down the drain? (The pun is killing me) Fluid level looks fine, all other fluids in car are fine. We just want a temporary fix that might be able to hold the car together until January.

I appreciate any help! (FYI: car is a 1988 Honda Accord LXi with automatic transmission)

I feel your pain. My van is sitting in a pile of snow in the parking lot at work (last night the line to the tranny cooler broke)

My roommate just did a transmission flush a month ago and it did worse for his car. He now has to get a transmission rebuild done to the tune of a grand.

The mechanic prob screwed it up.
