1993 Mazda 626 V6 with Automatic
~75,000 Miles
Whenever I accelerate quickly on a level road or moderately up a hill, the check engine light comes on. It usually comes on about 10 -15 seconds after I've reached cruising speed. Some times it'll come on while accelerating if i keep accelerating, but i'm usually going 100+ mph by then. Once the light comes on, it turns off after about 30 seconds; I usually ease off the gas and drive as slowly as traffic will allow until it turns off. I don't notice the car running any differently before or afterwards.
The OBD code i'm getting is 244 (2 long, 4 short, 4 short) - Camshaft Position sensor or circuit. Any ideas what could be going on and what I can do to fix it? If it's something simple and quick, I want to do the work myself to save some money.
If it helps: I've recently had the fuel filter changed, the fuel injection and throttle body were cleaned, the Automatic Transmission fluid and filter were changed about 6 months ago. I noticed that the transmission fluid was low this morning, but the problem persists even after I add some.
