YACPT: Can I really just call up CS and request a new phone because my old one is dying?

I heard from many friends you can do that just because your phone is dying or if you give them a legitimate enough reason. My sister in law actually did that and got my brother a new phone. My Motorolla C332 is only lasting 1 hour of talk time now before it goes dead, so I was wondering about this. I still have till Nov till my contract is up. Any employees or cell phone people who know this who can give me advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

They will sign you up for a new contract and give you a discount on a new phone. Sounds like you need a new battery, not a new phone.

The thing is, this phone has an internal battery, so I would have to get a new phone anyway. I wish it had a battery I could just replace it with.

hmm interesting you brought that up.. our motorolla is doing the same thing since 3 weeks ago.. but they said get a new battery. Im not wasting money on a battery... ill get a new phone.

My friend and I have the same phone (my friend has the C333, I have the C332)... he said the battery is a known defect for our phone, and he actually took his C333 back to where he bought it and they fixed it for free...

I haven't took mine in yet, cuz I dont use my phone much... You might wanna give that a try...

When I call AT&T and told them my phone is dying since I have the phone for 3 yrs, they told my I can get $10 off a new phone. Now I am with T-Mobile.

Hmm.. maybe I can take it to an authorized T-movile dealer. But, how are those sales people gonna fix it? I think they'll just open it up, blow some air through it, and call it good. I should call today and see if I can get it fixed or a new phone. Thanks.

Remember to be hard with them.... My friend has to grill them for a while before they admit the problem with the phone... dont know how they fix it though... But his phone was in service for around a week...
