So driving down to see my girl I'm about 2 minutes from her house and light turns yellow, I dont think I can stop in time so I blow through it, and then suddenly flashing lights come from a bar and I'm thinking CRAPPPPP. So I pull out my license and insurance. Cop knocks on the window big gruff looking dude, he's like you just ran that light, I was like I thought I couldnt stop....he goes lemme see your license and insurance. He looks at me and says is this a joke? I said no sir. He tosses my insurance on my lap and goes this is 2 years old...I was like  He goes do you have a good driving record I say yes sir just one ticket in 5 years. He goes ok fine I bet you just handed me the wrong insurance I'll give you a ticket for impeding traffic flow(only a 50 dollar moving citation no points doesnt go on record) At that point I about p!ssed myself and said thank you sir.

He could have easily slapped me for no insurance and hauled my a$$ and car away....but whew....yay for my stupidity for once

If all you did was hand him the wrong card, I don't see how a ticket for no insurance would've ever stuck. But then again, IANAL.

I blew a red light once, and realized as I was going through the light that a cop was sitting at the intersection.

Needless to say I was busted big time, so I did the right thing and pulled over even before the cop put on his lights.

He was totally cool and saw that I was remorseful. I told him I was on my way to pick up my gf and wasn't thinking straight. He just smiled and told me to slow it down.

Lucky you,

and good thing your ticket wasn't in California since impeding traffic flow is a point violation in California and goes on your record.

Uhh, no he couldn't have. I think you are just trying to make your story more "exciting" than it really is.

It's not like you only get 1 chance to take your insurance out of your wallet or whatever

Plus, even if you left your new card at home, you can get a citation for no insurance removed.

I got a ticket for having an expired insurance card on me instead of my new one.
All I had to do was go into court with my new card and a letter from my agent stating that the policy has been active the entire time.
It was dropped.

In Massachusetts your registration must bear an insurance stamp to be valid so there are no separate proof cards.

Also, in Mass. I don't think there's such thing as a no-points moving violation. I've gotten points for not having a current inspection sticker on an obviously functional car (I had just come back from being away and it lapsed)... that is much less critical than not having insurance IMO.
