I have roadrunner.

I have been to broadband reports, and also other review sites looking up but im still lost.

My RR was Formerly Comcast, Formly roadrunner, and formaly mediaone. Wow they had a lot of change.

I just upgraded to the 10M package. Now the tech guy came down and said my modem is too old and outdated. I actually believed him because this modem dates back to 2001. I dont even remember the name of the modem. I got it from COX when i lived in a different state.

Someone recomend me a great modem? I do a lot of P2P, as well as some moderate gaming. I am in essense a bandwith whore to make it simple.

Budget, around 50-150 is target range.

Let me hear what you guys recomend and why.

Your imput is greatly apreciated!

I Also know about the cable modem hack. And no i am not going to hack it because i dont approve of stealing from the cable company even if they do rip us off.

I want a plan stock great performing cable modem. Seems like everyone only talks about hacked ones.

cable modems arent like routers...get one that supports DOCSIS 2.0 with a 10/100 ethernet port and you should be good.

i've always had good luck with Motorola SURFboards.

Yeah, the SURFboards are good. And like jlazzaro said, if it has a 10/100 ethernet port your good.
Since you have 10mb internet that would be the bottleneck if the one you have now only has a 10mb ethernet port. considering that the 10mb port could handle about 6-7mbs of traffic.
Same thing happened to me, they up'd the speed of my RR from 5 to 7mbs and i needed a new modem, but now i have business class RR that is 10/1 They gave me some wired modem and router in one thing.... i just made them bridge it..my router is much more advanced. plus i dont have to pay for portforwards like that.
