The key to fixing computers, especially in a smaller town or community, is to barter. You don't necessarily have to charge $$$ for your services, but get something in return. The pervs will fly out with sex related comments, but I have stocked my freezer with deer and moose meat this way, as well as had part of my roofing project paid for through barter.

Edit: Not to mention half off my annual golf membership! That was the best one by far.
