YACAT: yet another car audio thread

I'm running an Aura RPM series 50wx4 amp hooked up to CDTaudio 6.1 up front and boston acoustic rm6 coaxials in the back. Using a 'cheap' sony headunit the GT400 until my local place gets the pioneer premier 780MP back in stock.

How hot are the amps in general supposed to run? I suppose it depends on how loud you play the music. I don't have the gain set that high for either the front or rear circuits, i like the extra headroom, but i dont have a multimeter or a sound meter to correctly set the gain. Plus i'll be readjusting it once i get the 780MP. Right now after some extened play it gets quite hot to the touch. Its mounted to the back-fold down seat of my 94 civic.

It doesn't matter how hot it gets, if it's too hot, the amp will shut off and you know it's too hot. Duh.
